Law Book

Principles of Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023

In the preface of the First Edition of "Principles of the Law of Evidence," published in 1977, Dr. Avtar Singh described the book as an introduction to and a brief study of the principles of the Law of Evidence underlying the provisions of the Indian Evidence Act — a work he dedicated as a humble tribute to that Act's century-long success. Today, after incorporating the provisions of the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, the book continues that legacy. Apart from removing a few redundant references and amending the placement of provisions, only a few substantive changes have been brought in by the new Adhiniyam. Now in its 25th Edition (2025), this classic text has been thoroughly updated to reflect India's new evidence law regime.

Introduction to Law of Torts and Consumer Protection

Introduction to the Law of Torts and Consumer Protection offers a thorough look at tort principles and consumer rights in a single narrative paragraph. The book explains tort definitions, development, and types like negligence, nuisance, and defamation, alongside victim remedies, while also covering consumer duties, rights, and protection systems. Updated for modern curricula, it includes recent Supreme Court case law and amendments from the Mediation Act of 2023 and the Tribunals Reforms Act of 2021, contrasts the 1986 and 2019 Consumer Protection Acts, and explores core ideas like strict liability and duty of care, making it a key guide for law students, scholars, and exam candidates.
